Guest Testimonials
“Just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you so much for the stay at your Resort. My chalet was wonderful, and I also took advantage of a midnight hot tub and cocktail hour. The chap at reception and your shuttle driver were very pleasant… housekeeping was excellent and also enjoyed dinner at Strawberry Hill’s Dining Room. I have been telling everyone about my wonderful experience at your Resort and Marble Mountain.”

Salmon Fishing
Atlantic salmon fishing is a prime summer activity in the region. The Humber River bordering the resort is one of Canada's best salmon rivers. No doubt… fishing this river is a great challenge. The river is a deep and deceptively fast body of water that winds through one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. It is here that competent anglers will enjoy one of their greatest opportunities to land trophy Atlantic salmon. Fish found in this area are full sized salmon that have spent upwards of two years at sea before returning to spawn and many of the truly large ones, over 11 kilograms (30 pounds), are unique to the Humber River.
Newfoundland and Labrador promotes the catch and release experience. The river is fished almost exclusively from a boat, with equal success on both wet and dry fly. The Activities Centre can arrange the mandatory fishing guides and licences.
In early June, visitors can watch the Atlantic salmon jump the waterfall en route to the spawning ground upstream of Sir Richard Squires Provincial Park. 'Big Falls' is located north of Deer Lake, and is accessible via Route 422 and the Town of Cormack. Once in the park, a viewing area and staircase guide visitors to this awesome venue. This day trip is a one-hour drive from Humber Valley Resort.
