Message from Kim and Guy Stratford
(Following their December 22nd Visit to Humber Valley)
What a fantastic start to 2005 we've had - we flew over to Humber Valley using the first charter flight on December 22nd - so easy! According to Ed our chalet had only just been completed, but credit to all involved it exceeded all our expectations and we are now very proud homeowners. Not that we spent much time actually IN the house! The hot tub was a regular refuge after strenuous days on the Marble Mountain slopes. We were on the hill from the day the first trails opened and Kim spent a fortnight progressing from a raw beginner to Olympic standard…. With hardly a bruise!
Our skidoo was delivered on Christmas Eve so we also had the chance to explore the surrounding hills; the view of Old Man's Pond was breathtaking - especially in temperatures of minus 14!

We did discover a way to warm up though… partying with a Clubhouse full of Newfoundlanders on New Years Eve! We learned a few new dance moves, and generally had a great time… that is to say the photos show we had a great time, but memories of exactly what went on are admittedly a little blurred!
We have now discovered the world of Ice Hockey… Corner Brook Royals (Guy's team) beating Deer Lake Red Wings (Kim's team) in a predictable victory at the Pepsi Centre… (We won't dwell on the score of the next day's re-match in Deer Lake).
Our three weeks went by much too quickly... so before heading back to the airport we made sure our chalet is booked to us again for the first two weeks of March. We can't wait to get back; the place really feels like home already.
We can't finish these paragraphs without saying a very sincere thank you to ALL the staff at Humber Valley who made our stay not only enjoyable but totally hassle free. Sadly there are too many wonderful people to mention individually… but you know who you are! Many thanks to you all and a very happy new year!
Best wishes, Guy and Kim
